Gingerbread House

1 Gingerbread House kit (I got mine at Michaels)
All kinds of extra embellishments if you don't think the ones that come with the kit are enough
I personally added the Red Hots and mini Candy Canes.
1/4 - 1/2 cup of dry powdered sugar

I've been lazy for several years.  I used to make my own gingerbread but have settled with kits lately.

After I made the icing according to package directions, I placed it in a pastry bag.  I then took all four sides of the house and "glued" it together with the icing.  I was supposed to wait an hour before I added the roof sections.

I didn't wait an hour like I should have.  I may have waited 40 minutes at the most.  I struggled with the roof tops but finally got them on after several tries and not without making a heck of a mess!!!  I was using the Coke glass to keep the roof from sliding, same with the other side.

Now onto the decorating - just like "decking the halls" :)

Put the powdered sugar into a sifter and shake it over the gingerbread house.  Look! It's snowing!! :)  I love snow, I wish it would snow in our area for Christmas but it doesn't look like it is.  So I'll just enjoy it here.

All done!
There are no mistakes when making a gingerbread house.  No matter how many you make while putting the house together, they can be easily covered with all the icing.  This one looks a bit too rough, that's why it's important to wait for the icing to dry.  There's nothing more frustrating than to have all four sides cave in time after time - I speak from experience :)

Merry Christmas!!
