I forgot to take pictures of when I painted the red trim after dinner last night, so yes, you do see a red trim

Can I tell you how elated I was to finally put my snow scene goblets up for display?!?  They look so happy there.  By the way family, if you're reading this. . . . . I'm missing one!! OK, who's going to fess up!?

Voila!  and there she is!!  Isn't she a beaut!?

Thank you hubby, I am SOOO happy with my new kitchen shelf :) I love you!   He's not much of a smiler for the camera, plus we got just got home late from a double header basketball game at Liberty.

Has this happened to you?  Do you go around collecting items that just don't make sense at the moment but then on down the road, you've realize all of the sudden that you have a collection of some sort with the same theme?  Well that's what happened with my kitchen.  I'm drawn to tall skinny men, short chubby men, all with a long curly mustache, white apron and a chef's hat.  I don't know why but they seemed to have gathered in my kitchen.  Maybe it's because we lived in Europe for two years, I don't know.  It's a mixture of Italian, French that I love even though we lived in Germany.  Have a great weekend!!

PVC PIPE FLAG POLE
8 ft. PVC pipe (1 1/4" diameter)
2 ft. PVC pipe (1 1/4" diameter)
1 matching coupling
1 matching cap
1 can gold metallic spray paint
2 eye screws
Drill (same size as eye screws)
Small coarse blade saw
Cementer mix
Epoxy glue
Screw driver

Dig a hole with a post hole digger about 10" in diameter.  Prepare the cement, enough to fill the hole.  After you fill the hole, take the 2' PVC pipe, place the coupling on one end then place in the center of the hole.  Make sure it's straight up and down and level.  Let set until cement dries (hubby did this a couple of days ago).  Now, take the spray paint and paint the pole, in back and forth motions, 10-12" from the pole.  Spray on several light coats as oppose to 1 or 2 heavy coats (you won't get any paint running down that way).

Take the 8 ft. PVC pipe and place it on the pole in the ground (make sure cement has set) and see if the height is to your liking or not.  If it's not, use the saw to cut it to the length that you desire, top it with the cap.  Give the pole another coat of paint.  Set the pole back into the pole in the ground and finish spraying and let dry.

Hubby attached a key ring to each eyelet on the flag.  I held the opposite end of each as he measured each end where the key ring would rest and drilled a hole.

He placed a little of epoxy glue at the end of each eye screw before he screwed it into the holes he just drilled.  This will secure the screw even more.

After you screw in the eye screw as far as you can.  Take the screwdriver and slip it through the "eye" and twist it around to help the screw go in all the way.

Attach the pole back onto the ground pole and give it another coat of paint if needed.  At this point, we noticed a small problem.......

Some branches from our Magnolia Tree were too close to the pole.  No problem, we trimmed them down without a hitch.

Hubby then attached the flag to the pole and then placed it into the ground pole.

Hubby is so proud and so am I.  That metallic paint is so amazing, the pole looks like real gold. I love it!!

A beautiful day when a cool breeze came blowing through.

Just about this moment, the church bells from the Methodist church a couple blocks away started playing a favorite hymn of mine, "Love Lifted Me".   The timing was perfect for a perfect moment.

I was sinking deep in sin, far from the peaceful shore,
  1. Very deeply stained within, sinking to rise no more,
But the Master of the sea heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me, now safe am I.
    • Refrain:
      Love lifted me!
      Love lifted me!
      When nothing else could help,
      Love lifted me!
  2. All my heart to Him I give, ever to Him I’ll cling,
In His blessed presence live, ever His praises sing,
Love so mighty and so true, merits my soul’s best songs,
Faithful, loving service, too, to Him belongs.
  3. Souls in danger, look above, Jesus completely saves,
He will lift you by His love, out of the angry waves.
He’s the Master of the sea, billows His will obey,
He your Savior wants to be, be saved today.
