What a blessing, I feel like a kid at Christmas time. I met an American Folk Art artist today, a real, live person who paints these beautiful depictions of old America. Not only are they beautiful but they're rich in history with stories from the town I live in (and surrounding areas), is that cool or what? Her name is Fay Harris and I met her at the annual Christmas Market our university is holding throughout the weekend. I have a thing for art, especially when it's rich in history (like Currier & Ives [C&I] and Norman Rockwell). Fay was such a sweetheart. She told me stories behind some of the paintings. Like the Forest Remembrance one of a popular street here in my town or the one with her Uncle's lake where she grew up. She told me she was inspired by her aunt who was also an artist. I was thrilled to have purchased 4x6 size card paintings depicting each season. I'm going to frame them have hang them on my wall like I had when I was little of C&I's four season lithographs. Check out her website at www.fayharris.com and you can see many of her paintings close-up, they are amazing! Who would of thought that we had a famous artist in the area?! I'm so blessed to have met her and to get her autograph. I love my loot from Fay Harris!!

Oh I feel the same. I love those that evoke old Americana. I have three Wysocki prints in the house. Love his touching scenes of American life. How luck to meet an artist you enjoy.
